Costacea’s helps patients compare medical procedure costs and clinic credentials using transparent research standards. This page explains how we collect pricing information, evaluate clinic eligibility, and maintain our content.
We believe patients should understand how information is gathered before relying on it for research and decision-making.
How Cost Ranges Are Collected
Cost estimates on Costacea are compiled from publicly available information, including:
- Pricing published on official clinic and hospital websites
- Listings on established healthcare directories such as Practo
- Published per-graft or per-procedure pricing models common in the industry
- Cross-referencing multiple clinics within a city to establish a realistic range
- Pricing information obtained directly from clinic consultations when publicly disclosed or reported consistently across multiple verified sources
We present costs as ranges, not fixed prices, because actual cost depends on factors a directory cannot assess, including graft count, technique, surgeon seniority, and individual scalp or hair characteristics. Every city guide on Costacea states this clearly.
We do not display star ratings, review counts, or “best clinic” rankings. These figures change frequently, can be manipulated, and often provide limited insight into clinical quality. Instead, we focus on information that remains relevant over time, including doctor qualifications, training background, and services offered.
Where important information cannot be independently confirmed, we may publish a Costacea Note alongside a clinic listing. These notes flag specific details that patients may wish to verify directly before booking. They do not reflect positively or negatively on the clinic. They exist to improve transparency where our research has limits.
How Clinics Are Selected
A clinic is considered for inclusion only if it meets baseline standards, which currently require:
- A lead doctor holding at minimum an MD in Dermatology, a DNB in Dermatology, or an MCh in Plastic Surgery
- An active, functioning clinic website
- The relevant procedure listed as a primary service, not a secondary offering
- Confirmation that the named doctor is actively practicing at that location
We exclude:
- Wellness chains without a qualified surgical lead
- Homeopathy or non-surgical-only practices claiming surgical procedures
- Clinics where we cannot independently verify the doctor’s credentials
- Duplicate listings of the same doctor across multiple city pages
How Pages Are Updated
Clinic information, credentials, and cost ranges can change over time. We review published pages periodically and update them when:
- A clinic closes, relocates, or changes its lead doctor
- A cited source is updated, retracted, or replaced with newer research
- A reader reports an inaccuracy that we can independently confirm
Every page on Costacea displays the date it was last reviewed.
Sources We Use
Whenever possible, Costacea relies on primary sources such as official clinic websites, hospital websites, professional medical directories, published medical research, and government-recognized medical registration databases.
Where primary sources are unavailable, we cross-reference multiple secondary sources and clearly indicate when information should be treated as an estimate rather than a verified fact.
Independence and Commercial Relationships
Costacea does not sell rankings, accept payment for inclusion, or offer sponsored placement within clinic comparisons. A clinic’s presence on Costacea does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of outcomes.
Our inclusion standards are applied independently of commercial considerations.
What This Methodology Is, and Isn’t
This methodology describes how Costacea researches and presents information. It is not a clinical evaluation, medical opinion, or treatment recommendation.
Costacea does not visit clinics in person, observe procedures, audit surgical outcomes, or assess patient satisfaction directly. Our verification is limited to publicly available credentials, published information, and documented sources.
Patients should always conduct their own due diligence, verify credentials directly with clinics, and consult a qualified medical professional before making treatment decisions.
Our research standards are applied across all Costacea city guides and procedure cost comparisons.
